“I’ve seen the miracles first hand…”

I chose to become a Doctor of Chiropractic because I grew up in a family of Chiropractors and witnessed first hand the impact that Chiropractic had on the lives of people around me. Everywhere I went people would ask me if I was “Doc Booher’s little girl?” and would tell me how he had made a difference in their life or the lives of those in their family. My father has been a Chiropractor for 47 years. He was injured while in military service and it was a Doctor of Chiropractic that helped him. Simply put, that injury changed his life and showed him the path that he would follow for a life time.

Growing up in a chiropractic family had true health benefits. As children, my four brothers (three of whom are Chiropractors, the fourth is involved in the ministry and sales) and I were rarely ill. We were adjusted regularly and I attribute this to our good health. You see, Chiropractic is a true art form – our spine is the housing center for our nervous system. An amazing network of nerves that controls everything that takes place in our body…from the pumping of our heart, to the digestion of our food, to the impact that our immune system can have on fighting disease. Chiropractors are great at alleviating symptoms, but the more important thing we do is aid the body in remaining healthy by allowing the nervous system to function at peak capacity.

A Chiropractor’s Education

I received both my Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degree in Zoology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Following my undergraduate studies I pursued my degree of Chiropractic by attending Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, California. I received my degree as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2001, graduated with honors (Cum Laude) and was inducted into the National Honor Society of Chiropractic. I chose Palmer because of the quality of education-D.D. Palmer and his son B.J. Palmer are the founding fathers of Chiropractic. I knew that this particular scholastic arena was steeped in the philosophy and science of Chiropractic. As Chiropractors we are trained in Gross Anatomy, Pathology, Physiology, Radiology, Neuroanatomy, Orthopedics, Nutrition and numerous other subjects. Because of my education, I have diagnosed cancer, multiple sclerosis, cardiomegaly (enlarged hearts), depression, and many other diseases and conditions outside of common Chiropractic conditions and was then able to make the proper referral within the medical profession.

Upon graduation I had the opportunity to join the family practice, but chose instead to establish myself in the Columbus community and strike my own path. I began Chiropractic care first as an Associate in a practice in Worthington, and then moved to a practice in Columbus where I was an independent contractor for nearly four years. Ultimately I decided to open my own practice. Not only has this allowed me to practice Chiropractic care according to my own philosophy, but has allowed my to have a family. Essentially owning my own practice has allowed me to achieve both my professional and personal goals.

Our Practice

I use several different techniques in the office. My main adjusting technique is the Diversified style. I am also trained in Cox Flexion-Distraction, Thompson Drop, Logan Basic, SOT, and the Activator technique. I employ the technique that is best suited to the patients condition and comfort level. I also use a variety of passive therapies such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation and interferential therapy, hot/cold packs, manual therapy and our newest therapy, infrared light therapy. We have the Solaris infrared light therapy unit, which is endorsed by several pro athletes It has been proven to shorten healing times with soft tissue injuries and is approved by the FDA for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with Arthritis. It can also be used successfully in the treatment of headaches, carpal tunnel, TMJ, sprains/strains, tennis elbow, low back pain, and many other conditions.

My Family Wellness Plan

My goal is to receive an adjustment 2+ Times per month. My job as a Chiropractor can be very physically demanding, and it is important that I maintain my spinal and overall health. If I have been under a lot of stress or if I am feeling under the weather, I will increase the amount of adjustments that I receive. I do not wait until I have pain: I try to stay ahead of it.

I use that same philosophy when it comes to my family. I treat them in a preventative type of manner. I assess my husband and two daughters at least one time per week. If I find misalignment’s in their spine or extremity joints, I adjust them. If I don’t, then I don’t administer any type of treatment. It is especially important to me that our daughters are checked on a frequent basis (key words being CHECKED, not always adjusted). A typical child between the ages of 0 and 3 falls an average of 500 times in that span. An older child experiences emotional, physical and environmental stress just like an adult. Therefore I encourage my adult patients to make sure their children undergo a Chiropractic examination to determine if their nervous systems are being impacted due to spinal subluxation (misalignment). Children respond to Chiropractic care much faster than adults do because the problem doesn’t get “set” for a long period of time. Additionally, Chiropractic is preventative in nature -our daughters have never even had an ear infection.

In addition to receiving regular Chiropractic care, I strive to remain physically active. It is very important to me that I stay both physically and mentally fit so that I remain at my best. My husband and I both love to cook, so we enjoy cooking healthy meals at home. The final way I stay healthy is by taking a good multivitamin and other various Standard Process supplements daily.
